Once they got hopping, there was just no stopping.
Ernie Klyne and Laura Bruyere got the jump on the rest of the field en route to the respective men’s and ladies’ titles in the annual Frog Creek Open Sunday at Kitchen Creek.
Klyne was feeling fine after shooting a 79 to top 46 other challengers in the men’s division.
Bruyere, meanwhile, carded a 99 to rise capture the nine-player field in the ladies’ division.
The event, known in some circles as the “hackers tournament,” was open to all golfers with a minimum handicap of 16.
The other catch is that the winners have to organize next year’s tournament.
