A month after the Kitchen Creek Classic showed off the Arnold Palmers and Jack Nicklauses of the region, it’s time for an event for those whose game more closely resembles Happy Gilmore’s.
The Frog Creek Open, designed for those with a minimum 16 handicap, will be held this Saturday (Sept. 18) beginning at 10 a.m. at Kitchen Creek.
The entry fee is $50, which includes a meal and prizes at the end of the day.
However, the top prize might not be considered as such given the champion is responsible for chairing next year’s tournament.
Last year’s winners, and this year’s chairs, were Ken Badiuk and Elaine Soucy.
Open to both men and women, Kitchen Creek pro shop manager Glen Kellar hoped the event would draw a full field of 144.
He estimated the number of registered participants was about half of that as of yesterday morning.
