The public is invited to make a splash on Easter Monday with a free public swim.
It is being sponsored by the Women’s Health Symposium committee, and will take place from 1-3 p.m. on April 25 at the Memorial Sports Centre pool.
“There’s no charge at all,” said committee member Linda Hamilton.
“It’s just free to all the kids who are home, parents or whoever, on the Easter Monday.”
There won’t be a Women’s Health Symposium this year, Hamilton noted, although committee members instead are looking into organizing an event based on women and leadership in sports.
“So we’re just changing our focus a little bit,” she explained. “[We] just don’t like to do the same old, same old, same old.
“We’ve done the [free public swim] before, and it’s been incredibly successful,” Hamilton added, noting there was such a big turnout that people “actually had to be turned away.”
The swim will be a fun, healthy activity for children for the afternoon while also giving moms a break, she reasoned.
While the symposium won’t be going ahead this year, the committee still will be giving out a bursary to a graduating Fort Frances High School student.
