Muskie Taylor Whitehead came away with an impressive showing in his first trip to the OFSAA badminton championships.
The Grade 9 student finished in fourth place, and also earned the antique bronze medal in the ‘C’ flight, as the all-Ontarios wrapped up Saturday in Pain Court and Chatham.
Whitehead went up against Cole Osbourne of Kingston in the third-place game but came up short, falling in straight sets (14-21/8-21).
After defeating Uki Akimoto (Collingwood) in three sets in the quarter-finals Friday, Whitehead faced Jacob Harvey of Peterborough in the semi-finals later that day for a chance to advance to the ‘C’ final.
In what was a tightly-contested affair, Harvey prevailed in three sets (12-21, 21-18, and 19-21).
Skylar Arpin of Rainy River, meanwhile, saw her tournament come to an end in the ‘B’ flight.
Tilsonburg’s Jen Pathy knocked her out in a round-of-16 match-up Friday.
