The number of unbeaten teams was due to be sliced in half last night, however, as both Big Grassy squads squared off against each other while Stratton was scheduled to face Barwick.
Stratton opened the season with a 14-7 win over the Rainy River Royals last Tuesday night (May 17), then followed that up with a 17-7 romp against the Big Island Huskies on Thursday (May 19).
Guy Arpin earned the win in both contests, and also had a home run in the win over Big Island.
Barwick, meanwhile, began its season with a 7-3 victory over the two-time defending champions Sight & Sound Wolves before demolishing Northwest Bay 25-0.
The Braves opened with a 15-3 win over Northwest Bay last Tuesday, with Travis Tom getting the win and also hitting a home run.
That was followed by a tight 3-1 victory over Beef’s Warriors on Thursday.
As for the Lightning, their undefeated start came after taking an 18-10 win over Big Island and a 7-2 victory against Rainy River.
Heading into play last night, Manitou and Beef’s Warriors were next in the standings at 1-1, followed by Sight & Sound, Rainy River, Northwest Bay, and Big Island all winless in two tries.
Other games last night saw Beef’s Warriors take on Big Island, Sight & Sound face off against Rainy River, and Northwest Bay meeting Manitou.
League action then resumes tomorrow night with Sight & Sound facing Beef’s Warriors, Rainy River meeting Northwest Bay, and Barwick squaring off against Big Grassy Lightning.
