Four ousted in spike playoffs

A solid season went up in smoke in two short weeks for one of the top contenders for the Fort Frances Women’s Volleyball League championship.
That’s What She Set, which finished fourth during the regular season with 87 points, was upset by 11th-ranked Rockstars in the first round of the ‘B’-side playoffs last night at Fort High.
It was their second-straight playoff loss—meaning the team was ousted from the double-elimination tournament.
Rockstars had its own playoff run end later in the night as 10th-seeded We Could Carry Less sent them packing after doing the same to eighth-ranked I’d Hit That.
In another upset on the ‘B’ side, ninth-ranked Wild Sets snuffed out the title hopes of Let’s Talk About Sets with a victory over the seventh seed.
The celebration was short-lived, however, as Wild Sets suffered its own playoff exit later in the evening at the hands of sixth-ranked Gillons’.
Over at St. Michael’s School, top-seeded How I Set Your Mother bounced fifth-ranked Bump It Up to the ‘B’ side with an ‘A’-side semi-final victory.
The same went for second-ranked No Diggity, which muscled past third-ranked Scared Hitless in the other ‘A’ semi-final.
That leaves the best two teams from the regular season to battle it out in the ‘A’-side final next Thursday at 7 p.m. at Fort High for the right to advance to the championship.
The loser still get to stay in the fight—dropping down to the ‘B’-side final later that night.
Meanwhile, Scared Hitless will take on We Could Carry Less while Bump It Up collides with Gillons’ in the two third-round matchups on the ‘B’ side at Fort High at 7 p.m.
The winners will meet in the ‘B’-side semi-final at 8 p.m.
The survivor of that one then will try to win its third match of the night against either How I Set Your Mother or No Diggity in the ‘B’-side final at 9 p.m..
That winner advances to the title match April 14 at Fort High.
