It was another great day for the Muskie Nordic skiing team at the NWOSSAA championships on Thursday in Atikokan.
Four members of the black-and-gold were able to book their tickets to the all-Ontarios, which are slated for Feb. 19-21 in Huntsville.
In the junior girls’ 3.7-K race, Emma Toriseva nabbed NWOSSAA gold with a time of 12:12 to advance to OFSAA.
As for the senior girls’ 4.5-K race, it was a Muskie podium sweep in the high school division as Kayli Machura was first (15:23), Tori Toriseva took second (15:47) and Angie Reford nabbed bronze (16:51) to all advance.
Shayne Hensrud of the Kenora was the top club skier, placing first overall in the division with a time of 14:08.
As for the Muskies who didn’t advance, Brooklyn Machura claimed silver in the Grade 7/8 girls’ 3.7K race (14:35) while Ray Calder wound up seventh in the senior boys’ 7.6K division (28:02).
