Fort teams get upper hand over Emo

Although Emo Novice teams held their own, Fort Frances squads skated away with several victories in recent minor hockey action at the Emo Arena.
In their first outing, the Emo Wings were handed a 4-0 loss by tagg’s (Fort Frances). Zach Johnston led the visitors with two goals while Garrett Howells and Mitchel Cain added singles.
Then down 2-0 after two periods, the Wings exploded for three goals in the third–two by Jared Baker and one by Curtis Hill–to nip Fort Frances 3-2.
Ben Drazenovish notched both Fort markers.
tagg’s, in their game against Emo Rockets, blew the host team away with three third-period markers by Mitchel Cain, Garrett Howells (his second of the game), and Weena Bird.
Zach Johnston added two in the second.
Tyler Romyn, Cody Drennan, and Chris Mutz replied for the Rockets.
The Emo OPP also did not have a good night against the visiting Food Town Fury (Fort Frances), coming out on the short end of a 2-1 score.
Evan McCabe hit the twine for the Fury to seal the victory. Jordan Davis replied for the OPP.
In PeeWee action, Emo Gillons’ could not do anything right against the Sharks (Fort Frances), being routed 9-0. Kelly, Calder, and Larson led the Sharks with two goals each while Kellar, Egan, and Allen netted singles.
But the Emo Predators overcame a 2-1 deficit after two to earn a tie with the Sharks on a goal by Dennis Mutz at the six-minute mark of the final stanza.
Elija Smith also scored for the Predators while Kelly and Pruys sparked the Sharks.
Meanwhile, the Fort Frances Legion outscored the Emo Blues 4-1 on goals by Justin DeGagne, Travis Green, Clint Pruys, and Tom Rose. It was not reported who tallied the lone Blues’ lone goal.
In Atom action, Gillons’ (Fort Frances) netted four unanswered goals in the third period to break a 3-3 tie and down the Emo Esso Leafs 7-3.
Jerome Tuesday and Andrew Eaton both had hat tricks for Gillons’ while Graham Hercun added a single. Nathan DeBungie, Maverick Judson, and William Brandon replied for the Leafs.
