Fort goes 1-2 at Thunder Bay tourney

They were the few, the proud, and the almost playoff contenders.
A lightly-manned squad of just 11 men travelled from Fort Frances to compete this past weekend in the second division of the Thunder Bay Invitational soccer tournament, posting a 1-2 mark.
The squad knocked off the Thunder Bay VP Spiders 2-1 with only 10 players, as their 11th was unable to make it for the opening tilt Saturday morining. Thor Ruppenstein and Matt Basaraba had the Fort tallies.
Fort Frances held eventual second division champion Thunder Bay United close that afternoon, but injuries to Ruppenstein and Brendan Hyatt in the first half left the remaining nine men running on empty in the second, and a goal by United with 10 minutes left was the difference in a 1-0 loss.
The locals, needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, pressed the offence Sunday against Thunder Bay Nemesis, but came up short in a 1-0 defeat.
