Fort bowlers take third at aggregate

Fort Frances finished third overall at the annual aggregate bowling tournament over the weekend in Kenora.
Jeff Watts led the local contingent, finishing second for the top scratch total over the seven-game showdown held Saturday and Sunday.
He also had the top scratch single from the weekend (375).
Watts powered the Fort Frances men’s scratch team to first place in their division in a tight battle over Kenora, Dryden, and Atikokan.
The team also included Mike Behan, Tyler Good, Bryan Patterson, and Rick Stamarski.
Gerry Rousseau, meanwhile, had the third-best overall scratch total in leading the Fort Frances mixed scratch team to top spot in their divison.
That squad also included Ken Dick, Bobbi Jo Guenette, Nancy Noonan, and Bill Plumridge.
The Fort Frances women’s scratch team—featuring Megan Bale, Toni Benning, Kathy Bois, Lori Pattison, and June Wood—finished in second place behind Dryden
Fort Frances bowlers also competed in the handicap division over the weekend.
The mixed squad featured Mike and Tammy Beyak, Cait Morrison, Len Noonan, and Bryan Patterson.
The women’s team included Debbie Armstrong, Patti Fraser, and Shirley Jensson (two out-of-town bowlers rounded out the team).
They also finished second in their division.
Finally, Rich Walton and Don Wood bowled on the men’s team, which included three out-of-town bowlers to fill the squad.
They wound up finishing in third.
Kenora wound up winning the aggregate banner, with Dryden a close second.
Atikokan finished fourth behind Fort Frances.
Dryden will host next year’s aggregate tournament.
