The unblemished record the Muskie boys’ soccer team had enjoyed in NorWOSSA play is no more after falling 2-0 to the host Kenora Broncos yesterday.
The loss came just hours after the black-and-gold had cruised to a 4-0 triumph over the Dryden Eagles on goals by Brendan Cawston, Anniss Seid, Nathan Bujold, and Zach Kooman.
The boys, now 2-1-1 in league play, will be back in Kenora this weekend for the Beaver Brae Invitational tournament, where they will be facing Miles Mac (Winnipeg) and St. Thomas Aquinas (Kenora) on Saturday afternoon.
The Muskie girls’ squad, meanwhile, still is searching for that elusive first victory after they losing 4-2 to Dryden and 3-1 to Kenora yesterday.
Sara Roach had the lone goal in the loss to the Broncos (scoring details from the Eagles’ game were not available as of press time).
Next up for the girls, who sport a 0-1-3 mark in NorWOSSA action, will be an exhibition tournament here tomorrow and Saturday, with Dryden, the Hanover Soccer Club (Manitoba), and St. Patrick’s and Hammarskjold (Thunder Bay) all coming to town.
Both Fort High teams will wrap up the NorWOSSA regular season next Wednesday in Dryden, with the playoffs set for May 25 in Kenora.
