Final four set

It’s getting down to the nitty-gritty in the Rainy River District Fastball League playoffs, as two more teams were sent to the exits for the season last night.
No. 4-seeded Manitou nosed out No. 7-ranked Stratton 1-0 on the strength of a masterful pitching performance by Bob Andy.
The hurler proved to be just a hair better on this night than his mound rival, Guy Arpin, who was tagged with the loss.
The victory sends Manitou into an elimination game matchup against the red-hot No. 3-rated Sight and Sound Wolves, who dashed the title dreams of No. 2-seeded Beef’s Warriors with a 7-6 victory.
John Desaulniers went the distance on the mound to earn the win for the Wolves, who are on a three-game winning streak, while Rob McGinnis was saddled with the loss for the Warriors.
Sight and Sound will visit Manitou this Tuesday in the ‘B’ Side of the draw, while the ‘A’ Side game that evening will feature the No. 1-ranked Big Grassy Braves entertaining No. 3-seeded Barwick.
Both games will get underway at 6:30 p.m.
