Figure skating awards announced

The Border Figure Skating Club presented the following year-end awardsearlier this month:
•Rhonda Paterson Memorial Trophy (donated by Florence Lampi)–Tracey DeAmicis
Awarded to the most dedicated skater. Must take skills, freeskate, and dance lessons. Attendance, effort, and attitude are all considered.
•Abitibi-Consolidated Trophy (donated by Abitibi-Consolidated)
Awarded to the most improved skater in skills, freeskate, and dance. One trophy is presented in each category to the skater who has shown the greatest effort, best attitude, and attendance throughout the skating season.
Senior level–Sarah McComb (skills), Shane Katona (freeskate), and Faith Armstrong (dance).
Low level–Brianne Hebert (skills), Rylee Blasky (freeskate), and Jocelyn Rinke (dance).
•Artistic Impression Trophy (donated by Ed and Margaret Katona)–Katie Bondett
Awarded to the person who, through the use of their hands, flow of body, and facial expression, as well as attire, is able to show skill, taste, and excellence in their ice skating performance.
•Coaches trophy (donated by club professionals)–Katie Bondett
Given to the skater who develops team spirit through their encouragement and support to fellow skaters as well as their attitude.
•Congeniality Trophy (donated by Robert and Doreen Tester)–Shane Katona/Faith Armstrong
The winner(s) of this trophy chosen by private ballots from the senior skaters.
•Border Travel Trophy–Canskate A (donated by Wendy Spottiswood)–Alexa Kadikoff
This trophy, chosen by the Canskate professional coaches, is awarded to the most improved skater on the Canskate A session–not necessarily awarded based on the number of badges passed.
Effort, attitude, and attendance are all considered.
•Skates & Blades–Canskate B (donated by Gord McQuarrie)–Jillian Kellar
This trophy, chosen by the Canskate professional coaches, is awarded to the most improved skater on the Canskate B session–not necessarily awarded based on the number of badges passed.
Effort, attitude, and attendance are all considered.
•Agnes McEvoy Memorial Trophy (donated by Patti-Jo Reid)–Lauren Gurski
Awarded to the most improved and most dedicated junior group skater–not necessarily awarded based on the number of badges passed. Effort, attitude, and attendance are considered.
•Most Dedicated Program Assistant (donated by the Border Figure Skating Club)–Brianne Hebert
•Carrie Selin Award (donated by Carrie Selin)–Shane Katona
•McTaggart’s Trophy (donated by McTaggart’s store)–Tara Tovey
Awarded to a skater for highest achievement for tests passed at the primary level in skills, freeskate, and dance, according to the point system.
•The Border Shield–intermediate level (donated by the BFSC)–Kate Basaraba
This trophy is awarded to the skater for the highest achievement for tests passed at the intermediate level.
•The Border Shield (donated by the BFSC)–Shane Katona
This shield is awarded to the skater for the highest achievement for tests passed at the high level in skills, freeskate, and dance, according to the point system.
