Figure skaters plan ice show

Plans are in the advanced stage for the Emo Figure Skating Club’s annual ice show slated Sunday, March 15 from 1-4 p.m.
Dress rehearsal will be Wednesday, March 11 from 4-7 p.m.
All parents have their instructions indicating what number(s) their child(ren) will be participating in, and what is required for their colourful costumes.
Emo pro Treena Searson has been tuning up the skaters for the upcoming ice show with skill tests and drills. It’s been a regular grind every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to get everything down pat.
In other club news, those receiving figure badges for their outstanding performances include Matthew Kellar, Jessie Roen, Kaiya Sutherland, Taylor Hartlin, Adam Esselink, Brandon Benjamin, Robert Stevens, Ryan Brigham, Matthew Sigurdson, Ryan McDowell, Jessica Rae, Ian Grant, Chelsey Craig, and Taylor Latimer.
Elementary badges went to Dana Drennan, Teila Michl, Nikki Craig, Sierra Woolsey, Nelson Bragg, Jessica Woodgate, and Casey Grant.
Also receiving badges were Sarah Hoskins (Basic), and Randi Haggberg, Emily Haggberg, Ashley Nordin, Chantelle Bragg, and Michelle Beck (Novice II).
Kayla Caul, Noreen Hartlin, and Brandy Hyatt were successful in passing tests that were evaluated at the test day in the Dutch Waltz, Swing and Fiesta Dances, and Willow Dance and Skills #7 respectively.
This year the Emo skaters had a great competition at the regionals in Fort Frances, showing confidence in their performances.
It also marked a first for an Emo skater–Brandy Hyatt–to skate away with four gold medals while competing on a team with the Fort Frances and Rainy River clubs.
