FFCBC changing Day 2 start order

Press Release

There will be a change in how teams competing in the 2009 Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship will depart on Day 2.
In previous years, the starting position on Day 2 was determined by the net weight ranking achieved on Day 1.
In other words, the team with the highest Day 1 weight left first, followed by the team with the second-highest Day 1 net weight, etc.
The team with the lowest Day 1 net weight left last.
But starting with the 15th-annual tournament this July, the teams will leave in the opposite order that they left on Day 1.
That means the last entered team (i.e., the one with the highest team number) will leave first on Day 2 on down to last year’s defending champions, Joe Thrun and Jim Moynagh, who will leave last.
Starting positions on Day 3 will continue to be determined by the combined net weight rank earned on Day 1 and Day 2.
“The change on Day 2 will make for a very exciting weigh-in on the second day,” enthused FFCBC director Doug Cain. “The teams that cashed a cheque last year will be among the last to weigh-in on
Day 2 this year.
“That should ensure a big crowd ’til the final limit is weighed,” Cain noted. “It also means that any team that enters now will be leaving in the first flight on Day 2 this year.
“Hopefully this will bring in some teams that have been sitting on the fence.”
The captain of every team competing in the 2008 FFCBC was offered a spot in this year’s event.
Some 103 of the 123 captains who competed last year decided to come back or to turn the team over to last year’s partner.
Team #124 was sold at auction, and 15 teams entered as a result of the draw last fall.
Three teams have entered since the draw, which brings the field to 122 teams as of March 17.
A full field is 150 teams, meaning there are still 28 open spots.
The entry fee for 2009 is $1,000 (Cdn.) per team.
A minimum deposit of $250 is required to be assigned a team number. The entry fee then must be paid in full by April 30.
Entry forms are available at Causeway Insurance and the Fort Frances Times, or online at www.canadianbass.com
