Fastball playoffs resuming

Staff

The Rainy River District Fastball League is set to resume its post-season tonight (weather permitting), with the playoff lives of four teams hanging in the balance.
In the bottom half of the double-elimination playoff bracket, fifth-place Barwick is set to take on ninth-place Manitou.
The other game sees eighth-place Big Island hosting 10th-place Northwest Bay.
The first of those two match-ups was set on Thursday night as Barwick eliminated seventh-place Stratton with a 12-4 victory.
Manitou, meanwhile, fell into the loser’s bracket after dropping a 10-0 decision to the first-place Beef’s Warriors.
As for tonight’s other contest in the lower half of the bracket, Northwest Bay kept its playoff hopes alive after upsetting the sixth-place Big Grassy Lightning 11-4 on Thursday night.
Big Island dropped down after having to forfeit its game against the second-place Big Grassy Braves due to a lack of players.
In the top half of the bracket, the top four teams from the regular season will be squaring off, with Beef’s Warriors hosting fourth-place Rainy River while the Braves will take on third-place Sight & Sound.
After tonight, playoff action won’t resume until next Tuesday night (Aug. 16).
