The 2011 Rainy River District Fastball League champs could be crowned tonight.
Beef’s Warriors, who finished atop the regular-season standings, will take on the third-place Sight & Sound Wolves, the two-time defending champs, at 6:30 p.m. at Couchiching.
If the Warriors are victorious tonight, the first-year team will claim the league title.
But if they lose, a second game will be needed Tuesday night (Aug. 30) to determine the winners.
The RRDFL playoffs feature a double-elimination format. Since the Warriors have yet to lose, the Wolves have to beat them twice in order to capture their third-straight crown.
The Warriors advanced to the final with a 4-1 win over Sight & Sound back on Aug. 16.
The Wolves, meanwhile, punched their ticket to the title game with a 6-2 win over the fourth-place Rainy River Royals at VanJura here Tuesday night.
Home runs by Marcel Pagee, Duane Carlson, and John Desaulnier paced the Fort Frances-based squad to victory, with Desaulnier getting the win.
Murray Armstrong was tagged with the loss.
The Royals had upset the second-place Big Grassy Braves on Monday night to reach the semi-finals.
