Those women sure have some style.
Breakaway Fashionistas pocketed a pair of victories in the women’s division of the Borderland Soccer Fall League last night at the east-end rink.
Sara Kellar netted a hat trick in her team’s opening 7-2 pounding of Glitter Gals.
Alina Eldridge notched a pair while Heather Wright and Amanda Levesque added singles.
Alyssa Holliday and Tara MacEachern replied for Glitter Gals.
In their second game of the night, Eldridge came up with another two-goal performance, and Stephanie Wirtz also connected, to pace the Fashionistas to a 3-0 shutout over Kick Chicks.
In related news, it was announced yesterday the women’s division is now down to three teams after Pink Lightning folded following a recent string of forfeits due to a lack of players.
The still-active Pink Lightning players were divvied up among the other three teams, with Kick Chicks now sporting a nine-player roster while Glitter Gals and Breakaway Fashionistas each have eight.
The regular season continues for two more weeks.
The second- and third-place teams then will meet in a semi-final on Oct. 21, with the winner playing the first-place team in the championship game Oct. 28.
