Former Fort Frances Jr. Sabre Ryan Faragher showed he belongs among the North American Hockey League’s best, turning in an impressive performance at the 2010 “Top Prospects” tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich. last week.
The Bismarck Bobcats goalie, originally from Fort Frances, helped Team Central eke out a 4-3 win over Team West, stopping 37 of 40 shots.
Faragher split time with Chris Kamal in Team Central’s second game, getting in the way of all six shots he faced in his half of the game to earn the 5-1 win over Team South last Tuesday (Jan. 19).
The 19-year-old then stopped 15 of 17 shots last Wednesday but didn’t get a decision as Team Central fell 5-2 to Team North.
Team Central finished second in the tournament with a 2-1 record, with Faragher earning both wins.
On the season, Faragher sports a 16-5-6 record, posting a league-leading three shutouts along with a 2.24 goals against average and a .915 save percentage.
The Bobcats lead the Central Division with a 23-9-7 record, leading second-place Owatonna by eight points, although Owatonna holds two games in hand.
