Faragher named 2nd-team all-star

The pats on the back keep coming for Ryan Faragher.
The Fort Frances native was named a 2014 All-National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) second-team all-star for his work in his junior season with the St. Cloud State Huskies (Minn.).
In addition, the 23-year-old was chosen for this year’s All-NCHC Academic Team.
He also is a top-three finalist for the NCHC’s Goaltender of the Year award.
Faragher posted a 19-7-4 record for the fourth-ranked Huskies this season, compiling a 2.67 GAA and .909 save percentage.
In related news, Faragher currently is waiting to find out if he’ll make the list of top 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, given to the top player in U.S. college hockey.
The announcement of that list is March 20.
St. Cloud State, meanwhile, begins its journey tonight in what they hope will be their second-consecutive NCHC championship.
The top-seeded Huskies face No. 8 Miami University of Ohio Redhawks in a best-of-three series that will be played entirely in St. Cloud.
