Take away the first period and Ryan Faragher was unbeatable last night.
But after being beaten three times in the opening 20 minutes, the Fort Frances native was saddled with the loss in his inaugural AHL appearance as his Norfolk Admirals fell 3-1 to the host Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
Faragher and teammate Etienne Marcoux both were called up to the Admirals from the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies yesterday.
That’s because Norfolk netminders Jason LaBarbera and Igor Bobkov got called up Sunday and Tuesday, respectively, by the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks.
Anaheim’s goalie tandem of Fredrik Andersen and John Gibson both on the shelf with injuries.
Faragher stopped 19 of 22 shots last night, but surrendered goals to C.J. Stretch, Alan Quine, and Justin Courtnall in a span of 8:34 in the second half of the opening frame.
The 24-year-old was 2-1 for Utah this season, along with a 3.01 GAA and a .882 save percentage.
Faragher signed a one-year free agent deal with Anaheim last season.
Norfolk next plays a two-game road series against the Syracuse Crunch tomorrow and Saturday.
