Faragher hurt in win

It’s not like things haven’t been going rough enough for Utah Grizzlies’ goalie Ryan Faragher lately.
The Fort Frances native was injured in last Friday’s 6-5 overtime win against the Rapid City Rush in ECHL action.
Faragher was hurt after a collision with an unidentified Rush player on a second-period breakaway.
The netminder, who had lost his last six starts, played the rest of the period.
But he was replaced to start the third by back-up Ryan McKay with the score tied 4-4.
Faragher did not suit up for either Saturday’s rematch with Rapid City or Wednesday night’s game versus the Toledo Walleye.

Local resident Jared Bethune has rediscovered his scoring touch.
The Prince George Cougars’ forward snapped a nine-game goal-less drought with markers in back-to-back games in WHL play this week.
Bethune tallied in Tuesday night’s 4-1 victory over the Tri-City Americans and then again in a 5-3 triumph in Wednesday’s rematch.

Ian Tookenay of Fort Frances and Emo’s Sully Shortreed netted the first two goals in the Kenora Thistles’ 3-2 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings in Manitoba Midget ‘AAA’ Hockey league play Sunday.
In a 4-1 loss last Friday to the Central Plains Capitals, Shortreed and former Muskie teammate Jake Clendenning both assisted on Matthew Pitchenese’s second-period goal.

Fort Frances product Jordan Larson helped his Fredonia Blue Devils earn a 3-3 tie against the Alaska Seawolves in NCAA Division III action.
Larson’s power-play goal 1:43 into the second gave the Blue Devils a 3-0 lead before the Seawolves responded with three unanswered goals to salvage the draw.
