Fort Frances native Ryan Faragher on Friday was called up by the AHL’s San Diego Gulls from the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL).
It will be the 25-year-old netminder’s second stint with the Gulls this season after he went 1-3 earlier in the year with a 3.37 GAA and .895 save percentage.
Faragher got the call-up after Anaheim Ducks’ goalie Fredrik Andersen suffered a concussion during an 8-3 win over the Calgary Flames last Wednesday.
With Andersen out indefinitely, the Ducks summoned Anton Khudobin from San Diego to take his place on the roster behind newly-promoted starter John Gibson.
That, in turn, led to Faragher moving up the ladder for what could be a lengthy stretch depending on the severity of Andersen’s injury.
NHL veterans Matt Hackett and Dustin Tokarski are the other goalies currently listed on the Gulls’ roster.
Faragher has posted a mark of 24-13-4 this season with Utah, along with a 2.33 GAA and .917 save percentage.
