Familiar story for court teams

Both Muskie girls’ basketball teams extended their NorWOSSA winning streaks here yesterday while the two boys’ volleyball squads remained winless for their seasons.
The senior girls downed the Kenora Broncos 31-20 for their fourth-straight win to remain atop the standings with a 4-1 record. Rebecca Cornell led the way with 11 points.
The loss left Kenora (1-4) in the cellar. The Dryden Eagles are in second place at 3-3.
Fort High played Kenora earlier today to open a senior girls’ tournament here, with that game to also count in the NorWOSSA standings to make up a game that was postponed earlier in the season.
Meanwhile, the junior girls also won their fourth-straight game after beating the visiting Broncos 37-28 yesterday afternoon. They sit in first place with a 4-2 record, followed by Dryden (3-3) and Kenora (2-4).
Jessica Woodgate paced the black-and-gold with 10 points.
In volleyball action here yesterday, the Muskie senior boys fell in straight sets to the Broncos, losing the best-of-five match by scores of 25-15, 25-22, and 25-17.
Dryden leads the league with a 5-1 record, followed by Kenora (4-2) and Fort High (0-6).
The junior boys also failed to tally their first win of the season as they fell in four sets to Kenora.
The Broncos opened the match with a 25-11 win, but the Muskies roared back to take the second set 25-22. Kenora then wrapped up the victory by scores of 25-21 and 27-25.
Dryden tops the league at 6-0, followed by Kenora (3-3) and the Muskies (0-6).
The black-and-gold head to Dryden on Tuesday, then will wrap up the regular season in Kenora before hosting the NorWOSSA playoffs on Nov. 12.
