International Falls beat the Dryden Hornets 5-3 in the ‘A’ final of the Taggs Source for Sports Bantam ‘AA’ hockey tournament held over the weekend at the Memorial Sports Centre.
In other action, Lake of the Woods (Baudette) downed the Kenora Thistles 5-2 to capture the ‘B’ crown while the Westfort Maroons pummelled the Northwest Stars (both from Thunder Bay) 10-3 en route to the ‘C’ title.
Both local teams—Taggs and the Fort Frances Stars (made up of players from the local house league)—were eliminated in the semi-finals.
Despite a late rally, Taggs came up just short in their playoff match against the Kenora Thistles, losing 6-3 in front of their fans Saturday night.
The Stars were eliminated earlier Saturday thanks to a 6-0 loss to the Maroons.
