Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls captured the 34th-annual Church bonspiel yesterday at the Fort Frances Curling Club.
John Cann, Bob Peterson, Steve Oswald and Doug Anderson prevailed in the 12-team event after being the runners-up last year.
Taking second place this year–and earning the dubious honour of organizing next year’s bonspiel–was the foursome of Dave Hughes, Bonny Mueller, Cal Robertson, and Jean Hoffman of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church here.
“A good time was had by all and we will all be back next year,” enthused participant Bill Gushulak of Fort Frances, who added the bonspiel was started to promote fellowship among area churches.
