Claire Sandelovich certainly has a flair for the dramatic.
The Fort Frances native and former Muskie girls’ forward scored the only goal of the shootout to lead the Northern Stars to a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Titans in the championship game of the Lieutenant Governor’s senior women’s hockey tournament in Winnipeg over the weekend.
After three shooters on each team were denied to send the shootout into sudden-death, Sandelovich made good on her opportunity in the fourth round for her team, which plays in the Manitoba Women’s Junior Hockey League.
The Stars’ goalie stopped the Titans’ last shooter to nail down the win.
Sandelovich played for the Muskies during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.
