The Emo Thunderbolts were firing on all cylinders in recent minor hockey action, winning both their games in PeeWee action.
Against the visiting Sharks (Fort Frances), the Thunderbolts scored twice in each of the first and second periods en route to a 5-1 victory.
Tyson Romyn led the way with a pair of goals while Matt Redford, Brock Benjamin, and Eric Soucy added singles. Jordan Bale netted the Sharks’ lone goal late in the third.
Then the Thunderbolts exploded for five goals in the second period, then added three more in the third, to dump Esso 9-3
Devon Allison, Romyn, and Soucy each tallied twice for the victors while Redford, Brent Meyers, and Tyson Quibell added singles. Mitchell Green, Matt Gurski, and Kurtis Carlson replied for Esso.
No penalties were assessed in that game.
In other action, the Tagg’s ‘AA’ Bantams (Fort Frances) trounced the Emo Midget Blues 8-2, pulling away with three goals in the second period and four more in the third.
Mike Niskala led the visitors with two goals, with Scott Bridgeman, Jordan Wilson, Jamie Davis, Terry Kellar, Bryan Chambers, and Cody Mosbeck.
Tyler Kinnear and Darren DeGagne scored for the Blues.
In Bantam action, the Emo Cowboys outhustled Holmlund’s (Fort Frances) at every turn, blanking the visitors 6-0 on goals by Shaun Councillor (two), Travis Strachan, Elijah Smith, Scott Galusha, and Jeff Hyatt.
No penalties were called in this game, either.
Meanwhile, the Emo Selects jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by Ryan Witherspoon but could not hand on, losing 5-2 to visiting Green’s Countrywide (Fort Frances).
Countrywide scored three times in the second period on goals by Dayton Brown (two) and Mike McCaig to grab a 3-2 lead, then iced the win when Matt DePeiro and Brown netted third-period markers.
Finally, the Emo Wings overcame a 2-0 deficit to earn a tie with a Novice team from the Falls on goals by Tyler Romyn (assisted by Kaitlyn Ferris) and Matt Mutz.
