Emo Speedway to host WISSOTA Super Stock Special

Saturday, July 22, 2006, is going to be a big date at the Emo Speedway this summer!
For the first time in almost ten years, WISSOTA Super Stocks will be returning to the Emo Speedway racetrack.
This rare event, to be presented by the Borderland Racing Association, will also have its usual highly-revved local drivers competing in the three weekly classes of WISSOTA Modifieds, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, and Street Stocks.
Sharon Trimble, president of the Borderland Racing Association, is very excited about the special.
“We are very lucky to have the opportunity to show off just how great our racing facility is and how grand the town of Emo is,” she said. “We want to be able to give the fans in this district and around the region something back for all their support.”
Trimble added the event will be more than just a treat for the fans and drivers who come week in and week out at the track.
“We want to be able to show new people who have never been here to see how entertaining racing really is. This is a good chance to check it out and see the tight competition at the local level and at the regional level,” she said.
Bringing people together to see the races every Saturday has always been an integral part of the Borderland Racing Association’s mission.
“We want to provide family entertainment at a reasonable cost and put on a great show every time. This event gives everyone a chance to see something different, while at the same time, gives local drivers a chance to show off to the crowd,” said Trimble.
JMS Motorsports out of Winnipeg is helping to sponsor this event and is bringing a trailer full of racing parts and other items for the local drivers to check out.
Paul Veert, owner of Veert Landscaping Inc. in Winnipeg, is supporting the special and is also racing.
Local sponsors Tom Veert Contracting and Nor-Fab Transportation out of Fort Frances have also supported the event. Other sponsors include Green’s Barbecue Bar, Albert Leek, Vern Thompson, George Oltsher, McLean’s Autobody, Ron’s Autobody, Leon DeGagne Northwest Road Management, Don Brown Trucking, and Darren Blattner Ent.
Cars are expected to be coming from Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, and throughout the United States.
“This special gives a great preview of what’s in store for the Emo Fall Fair and the season championship, which will take place in August,” Trimble added.
“If you love the races on July 22, be sure not to miss the events planned for the rest of the summer and into the fall.”
Grandstand entrance will open at 6 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults, $6 for students and seniors, ages 6 to 12 is $4 and kids 5 under are free.
