Emo Rockets win two of three

The Emo Rockets scored three times in the first period en route to a 5-1 victory over the Emo Wings in Novice minor hockey action there last week.
Maverick Judson picked up two goals while Luke Judson, William Brandon, and Bryan Wayash had singles for the Rockets. Jordan Davis netted the lone tally for the Wings.
But in their second contest, the Rockets ran up against a tough Rainy River squad and came away with a 10-2 loss.
Dan Usiski led visiting Rainy River with a hat trick while Mitchell Sequin had two goals. Bryce Marmus, Kalan Ewald, Kam Kuzyk, Nick Ashworth, and G. Delvecchio also tallied.
Chris Mutz and Ryan Witherspoon hit the twine for Emo.
The Rockets came back strong against the Times Tigers (Fort Frances), though, sending the visitors home with a 4-1 loss. Brian Wayash, William Brandon, Maverick Judson and Cole Benjamin tallied for Emo while Matt McLellan put the Tigers on the scoreboard.
It was a different story for the Tigers against the Wings, mauling the Emo squad 6-0 on McLellan’s hat trick. Taylor Jorgenson, Josh Sigurdson, and Joel Smith also scored for the Fort.
The Emo OPP doubled tagg’s (Fort Frances) 4-2 on goals by Terry Carmody (two), Matt Beck, and J. Baker. S. Boileau and Josh Scott replied for tagg’s.
But the OPP did not fare as well in their second game against the visiting Westend Eagles (Fort Frances), giving their opponents an early Christmas present in a 3-2 victory.
Tyler Harris, Zach Johnston, and Shane Loyie scored for the Eagles while Terry Carmody and T.J. Roen replied for Emo.
In Atom action, the Emo Selects won both their games, whitewashing Causeway (Fort Frances) 3-0 on goals by Dennis Mutz, Brett Meyers, and Ryan Mutz.
Then against Rainy River Esso, the Selects cruised to a 5-1 win on goals by Ryan Mutz, Brett Meyers, Devin Allison, Matt Redford, and Jake Gill. Ronnie Ernst saved his team from the whitewash.
The Emo Bantam Cowboys played 50-50 hockey last week against Fort Frances teams, first dropping a narrow 1-0 game to the Oddfellows on Barrie Selin’s first-period marker.
But versus Canadian Tire, the Cowboys lassoed the visitors 2-0 on goals by Matt Meyers, who was all over the ice in that game.
In the only PeeWee encounter last week, the Emo Panthers and Fort Esso played to a 1-1 stalemate. Daniel Hettinga scored in the second period for the Panthers before Brett Perreault tied the game in the third.
