Emo Rockets clip Wings

In recent Novice hockey action at the Emo-La Vallee arena, the Emo Rockets skated past the Emo Wings 3-1.
Kurtis Hill netted a pair of second-period goals for the Rockets while Matt Sigurdson tallied their other one in the first. Keith McTavish scored the Wings’ lone marker late in the second.
Meanwhile, the Emo OPP were generous hosts against visiting Tagg’s (Fort Frances), dropping a 4-2 decision.
Evan McCabe paced Tagg’s with a hat trick while Ryan Shortreed netted the other goal. Cody Drennan and Tim Sharp replied for Emo.
The Emo Rockets had a better time of it, getting a third-period goal from Justin Donaldson to earn a 2-2 tie with Skates and Blades (Fort Frances).
Kurtis Hill also scored for Emo while Zach McCool and Blake Wepruk replied for the visitors.
And Joe Basaraba scored twice, with Brandon Legarie netting the other, as West End Motors (Fort Frances) nipped the Emo Wings 3-2.
Brett Hands and Lauren Krukoski tallied for the Wings.
In Atom action, Causeway (Fort Frances) exploded for three goals in each of the second and third periods en route to an 7-0 shutout against the host Emo Selects.
Brendan Bruyere led the attack with two goals while David Moen, Matt McLellan, Charlie Windigo, Graham Hercus, and Tyson Grinsell added singles.
Meanwhile, all the scoring came in the third period as Gillons’ (Fort Frances) downed the Emo Hawks 3-1. George Halverson (two) and Boyd Badiuk scored for Gillons’ while Jon Roulston replied for the Hawks.
And the Emo Cowboys hog-tied visiting Holmlund’s (Fort Frances) 9-1 after scoring five times in the first and icing the win with four more in the third.
Mike Niskala and Greg Hartlin each scored twice while Daniel Hettinga, Jeff Hyatt, Travis Strachan, Jeremy Hyatt, and Elijah Smith also tallied for Emo.
Jamie Krukoski netted Holmlund’s lone goal in the second period.
In other action, the Emo Atoms scored three unanswered goals in the third period Saturday afternoon en route to a 4-1 victory over the Lake of the Woods Squirts ‘A’ team from Baudette.
William Brandon and Riley Caul each had a pair of goals to pace Emo’s attack.
Dan Usiski replied for the visitors.
