Although Emo minor hockey teams lost three exhibition encounters against Warroad and International Falls this past week, the rest of the circuit tasted several victories against two ties.
The Emo Atom Selects went up against the Fort Frances Atom girls and skated away with an easy 15-1 victory. Jake Gill and Tyson Romyn both had hat tricks while Brock Benjamin, Ryan Mutz, Denis Mutz, and Eric Soucy netted two each
Cody McKinnon tallied the other goal for Emo while Melanie Pierce put Fort Frances on the scoreboard in the second frame.
Meanwhile, the Emo Esso Leafs surprised Fort Frances in another Atom contest, scoring a 4-0 victory on three goals by Nathan DeBungee and the other from Jake Esselink.
In other action, the Emo Novice Rockets scored four first-period markers en route to a 7-3 victory over the Foodtown Fury (Fort Frances).
William Brandon led the way with a hat trick while Braden Baker, Luke Judson, Brian Wayash, and Charlie DeBungee added singles. Boyd Badiuk scored three times for Fort Frances in a losing cause.
The Emo Wings flew all over Emo OPP 9-4. Jorden Davies was hot with five goals, Alex Marusyk added two, and Travis Showalter and Matt Beacham rifled home one each for the Wings
No goal scorers were available for the OPP.
The Emo Predators had two well-played games last week but couldn’t score a victory, first getting corralled by the Emo Cowboys 8-4. Tyler Mann and Donald Kellar netted two each in the win while Adam McCormick, Ken Vargas, Jeff Friesen, and Nathan Shute netted singles.
Cody Mosbeck got all four goals for the Predators.
In their second game (PeeWee ‘AA’ action), the Predators had to settle for a 4-4 tie with the Fort Frances KCs after relinquishing a 3-1 first-period lead.
Tyler Barker, Jordan Wilson, and Cody Mosbeck all scored for the Predators while Jermaine Attatise (three) and Cody Hayward replied for Fort Frances.
Also in PeeWee action, the Emo Panthers battled to a 2-2 tie with visiting Fort Frances.
After leading 1-0 on Zac McBride’s first-period marker (assisted by Daniel Hettinga), Hettinga put Emo up by two with a goal (assisted by Nyln White).
But Fort Frances stormed back with goals by Calder (from Krag) and Sanders (unassisted) to earn the tie.
