Emo pucksters had strong week

Emo snipers scored at will in minor hockey action during the past week, winning four games while losing just one and tying another.
In Novice action, the Emo Wings skated all over visiting Rainy River 6-2 on goals by Richard Wieringa (two), Nathan DeBungie, Ryan Witherspoon, Maverick Judson, and Brock Benjamin.
Kuzyk and Ashworth replied for the visitors.
Then against the West End Eagles (Fort Frances), the Wings had to settle for a 1-1 draw after giving up the tying goal with just 29 seconds to play.
Nathan Brigham put Emo ahead in the first, with Michael Ignace getting the Eagles’ lone goal in the final minute.
In Atom action, the Emo OPP split their games, first upending visiting Foodtown (Fort Frances) by a 3-2 count. Tyler Kinnear sparked the OPP with two goals while T.J. Roen notched the other.
Josh Sigurdson and Matt Plante replied for Foodtown.
But it was a different story against Skates and Blades (Fort Frances), who scored three second-period tallies en route to a 5-2 win over the OPP.
Mitchell Green led the way with a hat trick while Alex McQuarrie and Andrew Easton netted singles. Kinnear and Riley Caul bagged one each for Emo.
In PeeWee play, the Emo Panthers edged the visiting McDonald’s AA Atoms (Fort Frances) 4-3 on goals by Cody Mosbeck, Vaughan Wilson, Jeff Hyatt, and Tyler Mann.
Andrew George (two) and Bryan Chambers replied for Fort Frances.
Meanwhile, Emo Gillons’ Hawks caged the Lions (Fort Frances) by that same 4-3 score. Shawn Makinson paced Emo with three goals, with Matt Meyers netting the other one.
Jeremy Wilson (two) and James Dodge roared for the Lions.
