The Emo Belles ringette team got their season off to a perfect start by capturing the gold medal at the recent Rainy River Tween/Belle tournament.

Rounding out the scoring were Tea Vahanaki (two), Shelley James, Amy Flatt, and Jody Faragher.
Shannon Hagerty had three goals in a losing cause for Rainy River while Danielle Schrum had the other one. In their second game against Atikokan, Emo found the going a wee-bit tougher, eking out a 7-3 victory. Vahanaki led Emo with three goals while Angus, Trista Barker, Flatt, and Teeple all tallied once.
Jessie Ridler, Cristin Happy, and Melissa Morden replied for Atikokan.
Their third game against Dryden was a real cliff hanger, with Emo outduelling their opponents 6-5. Vahanaki led the way once again with two goals while Lloyd, Angus, Flatt, and Barker netted singles.

It was a different story for the Emo Tweens, who beat Atikokan 8-2 but lost to Dryden 5-3 and Kenora/Keewatin 12-4 to finish out of the medals.
The first game was a real dinger against Dryden. Sarah Barton paced Emo with two goals while Nikki Baker picked up the other goal. Dryden’s Kasey Haw paced her team with the hat trick while Katyn Bryck and Nicole Gamble notched the other two goals.
Baker used her size to score three goals against Atikokan. Stephanie Strachan added two, with Sarah O’Sullivan, Barton, and Danielle O’Sullivan notching singles.

But the Emo Tweens were no match against Kenora/Keewatin. Lexi Cameron led the winners with seven goals, Danielle Cooke added a hat trick and Danielle Gustafson netted a pair.
