Emo Atoms enjoy strong week

Emo Atom teams won four games and dropped just one against visiting opponents this past week.
Brian Wayash and William Brandon each scored a hat trick to fuel the Emo Rockets to a 10-3 win over the Food Town Fury (Fort Frances). Braden Baker added two goals while Chris Mutz and Charlie DeBungee netted singles.
Kyle Turgeon (two) and Boyd Badiuk replied for Food Town.
Meanwhile, the Emo Selects rifled home three first-period markers en route to an 8-3 win over Causeway (Fort Frances). Tyson Romyn led the way with a hat trick while Brett Meyers notched a pair.
Ryan Mutz, Dennis Mutz, and Eric Soucy also hit the twine for the Selects while Scott Basaraba, Jason Tompson, and Kyle Sigurdson scored for Causeway.
But the Selects could not hold the fort against the visiting International Falls Squirt A’s, being bombed 9-0.
Nick Ruport had a hat trick for the Falls while Mike Wilson, Aaron Nordrum, Bryce Hielle, Sam Cassibo, Jarred Holenko, and Riley Burnell all added singles.
In other action, the Emo Esso Leafs waved goodbye to visiting Gillons’ (Fort Frances) after skating away with a 10-1 victory. Craig McTavish and Nathan DeBungee each netted three goals while Brett Meyers added two.
Nathan Brigham and Travis Wolframe also scored for Emo while Alex McQuarrie saved Gillons’ from a whitewash.
Finally, the Emo Bantam Cowboys edged the Oddfellows (Fort Frances) 2-1 on Nathan Shute’s goal with five minutes left in a thrilling second period.
Joel Wilson opened the scoring in the first.
James Algie tallied the Oddfellows’ lone marker in the third, from Ryan Smith and Kiel Martin, but that was as close as they could get.
