Dutton earns gold in pool

Local swimmer Heather Dutton wrapped her competitive season with a number of strong performances in Winnipeg last weekend.
Dutton competed in the ManSask Provincial Championships where she took the gold medal in the 100 metre butterfly, and silver in both the 200 metre butterfly and 200 metre freestyle races.
Dutton, who swims for the University of Lethbridge, encountered several familiar faces at the Championships as she came up against a number of personal rivals from the Universities of Manitoba and Regina.
It was a fitting end to what has been a very successful rookie season for the local swimmer.
The 19 year-old will now take a rest from competing in the pool but will continue training.
For the remainder of the summer, Dutton will focus on strength training and running as she and her twin sister, Ashleigh, take to the road in preparation for a half-marathon slated for Aug. 20.
