Paul Dobransky of the Fort Frances Judo Club won all three of his matches Saturday to capture the gold medal in the boys’ under-35 kg, orange-brown division at the 1999 Inner City Judo Open at Tec Voc High School in Winnipeg.
Other local competitors included Tony Evans, who won bronze in the senior men’s 81 kg, white-green division, and John Grynol, who took fourth in the juvenile men’s 50 kg, white-orange division.
Close to 200 of the top juodists from Northwestern Ontario and Manitoba competed in the one-day event.
The next meet for the local club is March 6-7 in Thunder Bay.
