Three district stock car racers posted impressive results at the Wissota 100 event in Rice Lake, Wis. last weekend.
Steve Arpin was the top local finisher, placing second in Sunday’s 24-car ‘A’ modified feature race.
Arpin started ninth on the grid, but made his way through the field over the course of the 35-lap race to claim the runner-up position.
Jason Anderson of Fort Frances and Emo’s Joey Galloway also qualified for Sunday’s feature.
Anderson both started and finished the race in 19th spot. Galloway, meanwhile, began in 23rd position but was forced to drop out midway through due to a broken ball joint.
Starting in fifth spot in his heat, Arpin qualified for the Wissota 100 feature race during last Thursday afternoon’s early qualifying session when he took third place.
Galloway and Anderson also ran in heats last Thursday afternoon but were unable to finish among the top three, relegating them to the ‘B’ qualifiers held Friday.
The pair of drivers fared much better then, finishing second and third, respectively, to join Arpin in Sunday’s ‘A’ feature race.
Local racing fans will have a chance to see both Galloway and Anderson in action tomorrow when the Borderland Racing Association wraps up its season at the Emo Speedway starting at 1 p.m.
