A number of district elementary school students had strong showings in Thundery Bay on Saturday during the 40th-annual Mid-Canada Elementary School Run at Lakehead University.
As well, the winner in the girls’ category has a Fort Frances tie.
Molly Carlson, who was born here but moved to Thunder Bay at a young age and now attends Bishop Gallagher School there, had the fastest time among 152 competitors (12:10.05).
The top district runner was Morgan Haw of Sturgeon Creek School in Barwick, whose time of 13:14.10 just edged out schoolmate Ashley Croswell.

Among the boys, Sturgeon Creek’s Hunter Neilson paced district runners with an 11th-place finish, completing the three-km course in a time of 11:42.00.
