Dallas Mosbeck and Wayne Howard seem to have Crow Lake all figured out.
Mosbeck, of Emo, and Howard, from Fort Frances, defended their Crow Lake Classic Bass Tournament title over the weekend in Nestor Falls with a two-day haul of 26.1 pounds.
The duo led wire-to-wire in earning their second-straight crown, topping the 35-team field with a 15.85-pound total on Day 1 before hauling in another 10.25 pounds on the final day.
Their total this year was just 1.45 pounds less than when they won the title last year (27.55).
Jeff “Gussy” Gustafson, fresh off wins at the International Falls Bass Championship in August and then “Bassin’ For Bucks” in Sioux Narrows the previous weekend, teamed up with his girlfriend, Shelby Larson, to finish as the runners-up (25.77).
They also had the second-biggest fish of Day 2–a 3.89-pound lunker.
Taking third place were Thomas White and Gavin Cowley (25.76), followed by this year’s Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship winner Bryan Gustafson and Bree Becker in fourth (25.73).
Rounding out the top five were Dan and Dennis Meckling (23.97).
Dan Kelly and Dan Joseph finished in sixth (23.69), followed by Steve Hanson and Jamie Krukoski (23.38).
Luc Levesque and Trevor McQuay placed eighth (23.27), with Greg Stahn and Theo Degroot just behind in ninth (22.88).
Stahn and Degroot also had the biggest fish of the tournament–a 5.64-pound monster caught on Day 1.
Mitchell and Haylie Moncrief rounded out the top 10 (21.33).
Kevin Tom and Arvel White had the big fish on Day 2– a 3.98 pound lunker that helped them finish 20th overall with an 18.67-pound total.
