Desaulniers brightest of all-stars

John Desaulniers shone brightly during the Rainy River District Fastball League’s annual all-star game held Thursday night in Pinewood.
Desaulniers was solid on the rubber and also belted a grand slam to left field to pace the East All-Stars to a 11-1 rout of the West All-Stars.
Don Smith also went yard for the East.
Jeff Morrison was tagged with the loss.
In regular league play last Tuesday night, the Fort Frances Braves improved to 10-0 with a 9-4 win over Windy’s Warriors (3-7).
Cole Tymkin smacked a homer for the Braves while Jaden Gustafson earned the win.
Marcel Pagee was tagged with the loss.
Elsewhere, the Dawson Tigers (8-0) rolled to a 16-7 triumph over the Stratton Eagles (4-5-1).
Carl Big George Jr. nabbed the win while Guy Arpin suffered the loss.
The Sabaskong Goldeneyes (3-8) eked out a 9-8 win against the Rainy River Royals (4-8).
Darryl Beacham was the victor while Myron Armstrong took the loss.
Mike Jourdain was stellar on the rubber, meanwhile, to pace the Couchiching Raiders (6-3-2) to a 12-0 rout of the Northwest Bay Chieftains (2-9-1).
Don Smith was tagged with the loss.
And the Sight & Sound Wolves (6-5) moved above the .500 mark with a 20-12 defeat of the winless Manitou Thunderbirds (0-9).
Nathan Debungee and Dan Servello both homered for Manitou in a losing cause.
John Desaulniers nabbed the win while Servello suffered the loss.
The game between the Barwick Blue Knights (9-3) and host Sabaskong Lakers (6-3) was postponed.
