Defending champs race near the top

No driver is easily going to wrest the title away from the defending series champions of the Borderland Racing Association.
The three division winners from last year all rank at or near the top of their classes again after the opening two weeks of stock car racing action at Emo Speedway.
Modified champion Gavin Paull (Fort Frances) is locked in a dead heat for first with Dryden’s Vic Larson at 103 points after winning the feature race Saturday night.
Street titleist Ron Westover (Devlin), driving injured racer Howard Trimble’s car this season, finished second in the night’s feature race to sit tied with International Falls’ driver Jeff Wickstrom for second with 103 points—three behind Emo’s Richard Visser.
And in the Mini-Sprint division, Kyle Ridlon of Aurora, Man. is looking to hold on to his championship from a season ago, but has some catching up to do thanks to his fleet-wheeled father.
Steve Ridlon took Saturday night’s feature race to boost his season total to 109 points. His son, Kyle, was involved in an accident in the heat and never made the final, leaving him in second place with 68 points.
