Deadline looms for EWC entries

Teams that want to participate in the seventh-annual Emo Walleye Classic in May may be left standing on the dock if they don’t get their money on the table in short order.
The registration deadline for the EWC is this Monday (March 30), with all teams needing to pay $600 to secure their place in the field.
With 56 of the 65 available spots already spoken for, there is no time to waste for those wanting to get in on the action.
“Registration will possibly be allowed after March 30, but that’s not guaranteed,” warned tournament co-organizer Lincoln Dunn.
“We were around 60 teams last year, as well.”
EWC secretary Colleen Vennechenko said the popularity of the fishing tournament revolves around what she says is the organizers’ commitment to maintaining a local flavour.
“It’s [a tournament] for the anglers,” she stressed. “We keep it on the small side and that’s important.
“The fact that we have a lot of locals taking part is a good drawing card for us.”
