Cyclone swimmers reach national standard

Another Cyclone swimmer met a national standard this season.
Peter Jensen, 12, made the standard in the 50m freestyle in a long-course pool. He also is ranked 31st in the province in his age group for that event.
This was Jensen’s second year of swimming competitively with the Cyclone.
At the beginning of the season, coach Debbie Murray asked her swimmers to set a goal for themselves. Jensen decided he wanted to beat 30 seconds in his 50m freestyle.
He made his ranking with 30.96, minus 1.2 seconds that was taken off, giving him 29.76.
The freestyle is Jensen’s favourite stroke. “It’s just my best and it’s the most comfortable,” he remarked.
Jensen doesn’t remember when he started swimming, but he’s kept with it because it’s fun and because he’s good at it, he said.
A Grade 6 student at Robert Moore School, Jensen also plays baseball, soccer, hockey, and curling.
