The waiting game for local curlers to take to the ice at the Fort Frances Curling Club will continue until the beginning of next month.
Originally scheduled to start last Tuesday (Oct. 11), the opening date for the 2011/12 season first was postponed to Monday, Oct. 24.
But the date has been pushed back once again, with action now slated to begin on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
The delays stem from the installation of the new geo-thermal system at the club.
“Part of the reason it’s taken a little bit longer than we have planned is because of a couple of delays we had during the summer,” explained club president Ron MacKinnon.
“We had weddings and other events booked well in advance before we got the funding put in place to install the new system, so when those events took place, you had to take a break in the proceedings for a few days,” he noted.
The ice-making process is now scheduled to get underway on Wednesday, with the Monday night league starting its season on the first day of November in a rare Tuesday night showdown.
“Normally that is when we have the International Falls league play, but they don’t start up until the middle of November so we’re going to have our Monday league guys play their first games on that date,” MacKinnon said.
