Local curlers will have to wait another two days to don their sliders as ice preparation delays at the Fort Frances Curling Club forced the postponement of this tonight’s originally-scheduled season opener.
Club president Bill Gushulak said complications over the weekend in getting the ice ready led to the postponement.
“It appears as though everything’s painted, but we still have to lay down the black lines that show where the hog lines and ‘T’ lines are,” Gushulak explained after talking with ice-maker Kevin Busch this morning.
“We have to get those in, and then it will take several floods over top of that to finish it off,” he added.
Gushulak anticipated the club will be ready for senior men’s league action Wednesday morning.
In related news, there remain spots available in the men’s, women’s, and mixed leagues for any individual curlers wanting to participate this season.
