The annual “Curl for Cancer” fundraiser still is looking for teams to sign up for the day-long event, which will take place next Saturday (March 6) at the Fort Frances Curling Club.
It is open to curlers of all ages and skill levels for a fun day of curling.
Mixed teams will be accepted as well as families curling together.
The action will start around 9 a.m.
Tom Fry, who coaches the two NorWOSSA gold-medal winning Muskie curling rinks, will be on hand to help beginners. Curling equipment also will be available.
Last year, the event raised $14,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society and organizers are hoping to do at least as well this year.
“Pledge forms are available at the curling club and people can register there, as well,” said co-organizer Nadine Johnson.
There is a $20 entry fee per player, which includes curling and a dinner that evening. Entrants also are asked to either donate or raise at least $25 in pledges.
“We’d prefer people get pledges,” said Johnson.
The day also will include a penny table, prizes for those who come out to curl, and a social at the end of the event.
The curler who raises the most pledges will receive a plaque.
