The Muskie court teams wrapped up regular-season play Tuesday afternoon by taking three of four matches from the host Dryden Eagles.
The junior girls’ basketball team capped an undefeated campaign (8-0) by dumping the Eagles 66-36.
By finishing in first place, they earned a bye to the final at the NorWOSSA playoffs coming up this Tuesday (Nov. 7) in Kenora.
The junior boys’ volleyball team also earned a bye to the final after finishing atop the standings with a 7-1 record.
They closed out the regular season by sweeping the Eagles 3-0 in their best-of-five showdown (set scores were 25-21, 25-21, and 25-19).
Meanwhile, the senior boys’ volleyball team rallied for a 3-2 victory Tuesday in Dryden to finish the regular season at 4-4.
After dropping the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-22, the black-and-gold took the next three 26-24, 25-14, and 15-4 to pull out the victory.
The squad could find itself in a three-way tie for first place should Dryden beat Kenora in their regular-season finale today, forcing a tie-breaker to determine which squad gets the bye to the final on Nov. 7.
But if the Broncos win today, the Muskies will have to battle the Eagles in a semi-final match.
Finally, the Muskie senior girls’ basketball team ended its regular season winless (0-8) after falling 56-40 to the host Eagles on Tuesday.
That puts the black-and-gold in the semi-final match this coming Tuesday in Kenora.
