The start of the NorWOSSA campaigns for the Muskie court teams did not go according to plan yesterday in Dryden as all four were swept.
Despite leading 17-12 in the third quarter, the senior girls’ basketball squad was unable to hold off the Eagles, who stormed back for a 30-25 victory thanks to an 18-point fourth quarter.
The junior girls’ game, however, came right down to the wire before the hosts drained a shot in the final minute to eke out a 38-37 win.
In volleyball action, meanwhile, both the Muskie senior and junior boys lost in four sets.
The senior spikers fell by scores of 24-26, 25-23, 12-25, and 20-25.
The juniors also split the first two sets—21-25 and 25-22—before dropping the next two (25-27 and 11-25).
All four teams will look for their first wins next Tuesday when they host the Kenora Broncos.
In related news, three of the four teams will be taking part in out-of-town tournaments this weekend.
Both basketball teams will travel back to Dryden while the junior boys head to Kenora.
