All four Muskie court sports teams wrapped up the regular season with wins over the Kenora Broncos here Tuesday.
The junior girls’ volleyball team outlasted a scrappy Broncos’ squad for a five-set victory by scores of 23-25, 25-14, 25-22, 23-25, and 15-11.
The juniors improved to 6-2 with the win, tying Dryden atop the standings, but the Eagles were awarded top spot—and a bye to the final of the NorWOSSA playoffs here tomorrow—by virtue of having more set wins in the season series between the two schools (10-9).
As a result, the Muskies will host the Broncos in the semi-final showdown at 10 a.m. in the small gym at Fort High.
Should they win, they’ll then square off against the rested Eagles’ in the final at 2 p.m.
The Muskie senior girls, meanwhile, evened their NorWOSSA record at 4-4 with a clean sweep of the visiting Broncos on Tuesday by scores of 25-13, 25-17, and 25-6.
But they’ll also have to go the long route tomorrow, playing the Broncos at 11 a.m. in the semi-final for the chance to get a shot at the undefeated Dryden Eagles in the final at 5:30 p.m.
Two Muskie wins would mean hosting the NWOSSAA final a week from tomorrow.
On the basketball court, the junior boys rebounded from their first loss of the season last Friday to Dryden with a 56-32 win over Kenora here Tuesday to finish in first place with a 7-1 record.
Coach Greg Ste. Croix said the two Dustins—Eyolfson and Chiefson—led the way offensively against the Broncos.
The senior boys, for their past, finished a perfect NorWOSSA campaign (8-0) with a 43-31 win on Tuesday.
Both squads earned byes to their respective NorWOSSA finals tomorrow.
The juniors will meet the semi-final winner at 4 p.m., with the seniors’ final going at 7 p.m.
